Why did you make these changes?
Sure, we think it looks pretty good. But these changes are actually meant to help clients be better investors. The new client experience focuses on the long term and on more accurate measures of performance. The changes also surface a lot more information for you and to help clients better understand what’s happening in their portfolios and why. We hope these changes add more transparency and help take some of the emotion out of investing by encouraging clients to focus on what they can control.
Where can I find performance information?
When a client logs in to their account (or when you view their profile), you can find performance information in a variety of places. On the client dashboard, you’ll see total earnings, as well as earnings and annualized returns for each account.
When your clients click into one of their accounts, they will also see account value, net deposits, earnings, and percentage performance. By selecting “Earnings”, clients can flip between simple, time-weighted, and money-weighted returns.
To view individual security performance, simply click “View holdings” at the account level, and you will see performance at the security level.
No changes are being made to client statements, and you can always find performance information there as well.
What factors are included in the future projection of my clients account?
As you’ll see, the new future projection now shows a range of potential outcomes. This new, more accurate view takes into consideration the unpredictable nature of the markets, rather than just one average rate of return. To make this projection, we take into account the expected risk of the portfolio, fees, and the cash rate to get an expected return. We hope this tool will help you prepare clients for a variety of outcomes, so they can meet their financial goals regardless of market change.
