For a smooth off-boarding from your employer's GRSP plan, please make sure to
- Open a personal RRSP account with Wealthsimple
- Update the e-mail address on record for your Wealthsimple account, to a personal one.
A) Why do I need to open a personal RRSP account? What will happen with your GRSP account?
As part of your off-boarding process, your GRSP account will be closed and the assets moved to a personal RRSP account at Wealthsimple. You are free to do as you wish with your money once the money has been transferred to your personal RRSP account at Wealthsimple. This process can take up to 14 business days.
If you haven't open a personal RRSP account at Wealthsimple yet, please do it immediately following the steps shown in this tutorial video.
B) Make sure your Wealthsimple account is tied to your personal email address
To ensure you don't lose access to your Wealthsimple account, please make sure to update the e-mail address on record to a personal one.
To do this simply:
- reach to the drop-down menu next to your name, found on the top-right corner of your screen
- select “settings”
- enter the new e-mail address
- click on “update”
